What's New in GameDay DJ

The walk-up music app for youth-sports coaches. Every release we ship updates here so you know what changed and what's worth a fresh look. Built around what coaches actually do on game day — manage a roster, dial in every walk-up moment, share with the staff, and fill the dead air between innings.

One-tap parent claims, BallparkDJ migration, and a smarter roster

The biggest update yet for coaches running shared rosters. Parents who joined your team but didn't finish picking their kid can now be assigned a player in one tap — straight from the Coaches & Parents screen. Roster claim data now syncs to the coach view automatically; no more pull-to-refresh dance. And first-tap audio on Game Day finally plays music and the announcer intro on the very first batter — no more silent walk-up.

Migrate from BallparkDJ in 30 seconds

Switching from BallparkDJ used to mean retyping your whole roster. Now: take one screenshot inside BallparkDJ's List view and scan it in GameDay DJ. The AI pulls every jersey number, name, walk-up song title, and artist in a single pass and drops you on a review screen. Full walkthrough in the support guide.

Coach-on-behalf player assignment

Not every parent is going to figure out the claim flow on their own. Open Coaches & Parents → tap the parent's row → Assign a Player. Pick the player you want them tied to. They're claimed instantly, no parent action required, and they can still pick the walk-up song or record their own intro.

Custom Sound Effects soundboard with edit mode

Long-press any SFX or vibe to enter edit mode — drag to rearrange or delete, just like the iOS home screen. Sad Trombone for the strikeout, Yakety Sax for the bench-clearing scramble, Final Jeopardy for the tense at-bat, Price-Is-Right losing horn for the close-but-no-cigar play.

Snippet editor zoom loupe

Trim every player's walk-up to the exact moment that matters. Drag the start or end marker and a circular zoom loupe pops up above your finger so you can place the marker on the drum hit, the chorus drop, or the guitar riff — without your finger covering the spot you're aiming for.

Parent's-eye view of the roster

When a parent opens their kid's team, their claimed player now stands out with a green Mine badge. Other kids on the roster dim to read-only — no more guessing which row they can edit. Multi-song players see their full curated song list in one row, not just the next-up pick.

BallparkDJ migration in the welcome tour

Quick Start and Full Tour both now lead with a dedicated page covering the 30-second BallparkDJ import — one screenshot of your existing List view becomes a fully-populated GameDay DJ roster, jersey numbers + names + songs intact. The biggest friction for coaches considering a switch is gone.

Demo teams fully shared

Open Riverside Eagles or Valley Storm on first launch and the Coaches & Parents view is already populated — co-coaches, parents who've claimed players, the whole shared-team experience visible without you having to wire up a second device. Tap any parent to drill in and see exactly what coach-side management looks like.

Same-day fixes

Owners can now manage their own team end-to-end — remove a parent, unclaim a player, change a co-coach's role — without running into permission errors. The very first walk-up tap of a multi-song player now plays the music on the first try (was occasionally silent on the first attempt only). Bug-report copy updated to honestly describe what the diagnostic bundle captures (logs + state + device info, no screenshots).

App Review demo path, between-innings music, and the bug-report loop

Tap a vibe — 80s rock, country, hip-hop, hype, walk-off bangers — and we drop a curated mix that auto-crossfades between songs to fill the dead air between innings. SFX ducks the mix gracefully so a Defense chant doesn't blast over the music. Long SFX get their own floating Stop pill so you can kill a 4-second cue without hunting for the soundboard.

Report a bug or request a feature

From the Account tab, tap Report a Bug or Request a Feature. Describe what you saw, tap Send — logs and device info auto-attach so the team can reproduce it. Coaches who hit something weird at the field have a fast path to flag it.

Lock In status that actually means it

Lock In once before you leave for the field and every walk-up fires the instant your finger lifts. The status icon now reads as a real signal: green when fresh, orange when expired. No more guessing whether the team is game-ready.

Multi-use parent invite links + Coach Account email preferences

Coach + parent invite links are now multi-use within their 7-day expiry. Drop one link in your team's group chat and every family can claim their kid without you running a per-parent invite gauntlet. Owner-transfer links stay single-use for safety.

Per-team identity at a glance

Every team gets its own accent color, sport, and jersey style. Switch between Sluggers, Spartans, and the rec-league team without losing where you were. Jersey numbers carry a black outline so they read on every color combination from navy to neon.

Owner controls, snippet polish, custom intro scripts

The Owner Controls section in Roster gives team owners a clear, single-tap home for the team's danger zone: transfer ownership, delete the team, manage members. Snippet editor gets larger album art, an inline tuning panel for ducking depth + ramp time, and per-player multi-song support — sequential playlist or shuffle, your call.

Custom intro scripts

Don't like the default "Now batting…" cadence? Write your own. Templates seeded per sport (Baseball, Softball) so you start with a real cadence and edit instead of staring at a blank field. Save as many as you want; assign per player.
