Team invites & codes, explained
A coach just sent you a team invite. Here's exactly what it is, what happens when you tap it, and how to join from whatever device you're holding. Joining is free for families.
What an invite actually is
An invite is a private link the coach creates from their team. The link itself carries a long private key; the invite page also shows a short invite code (six or seven letters and numbers) for typing on a different device at GetGameDayDJ.com/claim. Tap the link and everything rides along automatically. A team's share code (the 8 characters at the end of a coach's share link) works in the same box.
Coaches send two kinds. A team invite works for the whole team, so one link in the group chat covers every family. A player invite is made from one player's page and connects you straight to that player, no picking needed.
Joining from your phone

Install GameDay DJ
Free on the App Store and Google Play. If you already have it, the invite link opens the app directly.

Tap the invite link again
The app opens your invite. Sign in free with Apple, Google, or a one-tap email link. No password.

Claim your player and set their walk-up
Pick your player from the roster, then choose their song and intro. It all syncs to the coach's phone for game day.
Joining from any computer, or without the app

Open the invite link in your browser
Choose Claim My Player on the Web. On a different device, go to GetGameDayDJ.com/claim and enter the invite code instead.

Sign in free
Same sign-in as the app: Apple, Google, or a one-tap email link. Your browser brings you right back to your invite afterward.

Claim your player and shape the moment
Pick your player, choose their walk-up song, fix how their name is pronounced, and pick the announcer voice. Everything reaches the coach's phone for game day.
Whenever you install the app later, sign in with the same account and your player is already set up and waiting for you. Recording an intro in your own voice lives in the app.
How invite codes behave
- One link serves the whole chat. A team invite is reusable, so the coach drops it once and every family joins from the same message.
- Both parents can claim the same player. Two grown-ups per player, so mom and dad each get a say.
- Links expire. An invite lasts about a week. If yours has expired, ask the coach for a fresh one; it takes them two taps. A page that says the link was already used means someone finished with it: if that was you, sign in with the same email and your team is already there.
- On Android, "Open in GameDay DJ" opens the app or the Play listing. If nothing happens, install from Google Play first, then tap it again, or use the web option on the same page.
- The coach stays in control. They see who joined and who claimed whom, and can remove anyone from the team's members list.
FAQ
Does joining cost anything?
No. Joining a team and claiming your player is free for families. The coach's Pro subscription is what enables sharing.
Is the invite safe to sit in a group chat?
The link only reaches the people the coach shares it with, it expires on its own, and the coach can remove anyone who shouldn't be there. Only signed-in members of the team can see the family details.
I claimed the wrong player. What now?
Ask your coach to remove the claim from the members list, then claim the right player from the roster.
Can I use the web on an iPhone too?
Yes, the web flow works on any browser. The app is the better home on iPhone though: it adds recorded intros and the full game-day sound.
